What does it mean to adore your cycle? (Hint: so much more than just periods & PMS)

I think it's awesome that the more I share my own journey of adoring my menstrual cycle and structuring my life around the changes and phases I move through each month, the more questions I receive from other curious seekers.

While I know that for some women (and men) it feels weird, gross or uncomfortable to talk about periods, bleeding, ovulation, menstrual cups and PMS etc. (and that's cool — we're all learning and unlearning in our own way), I know that there are a LOT of you who are really, really ready to hear more and dive even deeper into this work.

I mean, look at J-Law talking about her period recently like it's the most natural and normal thing in the world. Because, it is! And I've been getting loads of questions over email and at my workshops about WHO this information is for (is it for women who are simply looking to fall pregnant? Is it for women who are on the pill? Is it for women post-menopause? Is it for men? Answer: it's for EVERYONE) and what the benefits are of tapping into your menstrual cycle.

ie. WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN TO ADORE YOUR CYCLE?

For those in Melbourne, Sydney, Albury and Brisbane, I'm currently workshopping this all out with you in person, and I am certainly pouring EVERYTHING I have learnt over the past few years into an eBook / eClass as we speak.

The more I reflect personally, the more I realise that adoring my cycle has changed the way I live my entire life. From how I eat, exercise, run my business, my social life and relationships, spiritual practice, self care rituals, the way I feel about myself, my self esteem and self worth...  No exaggeration. Everything has changed. It really is so much more than just periods and PMS.

I was recently sent a few excellent questions from Tanya Doherty at Beach Fit & Wellbeing and so I decided to film a video in response. You can find her original post over here.

Here are the questions I answer in the video:

  • When did you make the transition to adoring your cycle? Was there a trigger or event that created this change for you?

  • A lot of women find that time of the month emotional, painful, and generally don't look forward to it. How do you recommend they prepare where they can?

  • If you had to summarise adoring your cycle into one sentence what would it be?

  • A lot of women unfortunately don't always have the option of taking time off work during this period, do you have any recommendations of what they can incorporate to support themselves?

You can watch the video here

If you're in Sydney, Brisbane or Albury, do join in the workshop fun in-person. More info and tickets available here. One of the women who came along to my Melbourne workshop shared this with me after the night...

"Honestly, you think you have your shiz sorted at 30 and know a fair bit about yourself and your body... But my oh my how wrong I was. It truly opened my eyes to a whole new world of my cycle and the different phases and how it is OK to not be OK sometimes, and just to understand the different moods and emotions that we have, and how it is ALL LINKED. Truly mind blowing, yet... simple, you know... Something I feel EVERYONE needs to know!"

Looking forward to hearing from you in the comments below or over on Facebook. This conversation is exciting and vital and YOU are a very important piece in this puzzle. Share this one around. :D

BIG LOVE!
