Things that you're allowed to do
You’re allowed to not pursue the career path that a teacher told you in year 9 that you’d be good at.
You’re allowed to not work in the industry that you are trained in.
You’re allowed to enjoy your work.
You’re allowed to work 3 or 4 days a week, and still make a great income.
You’re allowed to not go for the type of partner that your grandmother told you would be perfect for you.
You’re allowed to make more money than your partner.
You’re allowed to make more money than your parents.
You’re allowed to make less money than your partner.
You’re allowed to make less money than your parents.
You're allowed to enjoy making, spending, and saving your money.
You’re allowed to engage in the creative activities that your brother told you you sucked at when you were a kid.
You’re allowed to do whatever it is you feel that impulse to try.
You’re allowed to change your mind.
You’re allowed to shape your own identity, letting go of the ideas that others have projected onto you your entire life.
You’re allowed to do all of these things, with love, kindness, gentleness, and joy.
You’re allowed to start now.
Love, Claire x
