The jury is out on exactly how much we absorb from the beauty products we apply to our skin - although 60% gets thrown around a lot - but when it comes to toxins and my body, I’m all for less is more…

About a month ago, I shared with you Part 1 of My Fave Natural Beauty Products series, which was all about makeup and cosmetics.

Today I’ve got a round up of my much loved non-toxic skin care products.

Be sure to check out Part 1 here for more on the WHY we need to be more conscious about what we are slathering on our skin (in brief, to avoid ingredients that are carcinogenic, irritating and endocrine disrupting - balancing hormones is crucial to wellness and all part of my PCOS journey), or check out this list of the "Dirty 30" chemicals we need to avoid…

Let's go!

Cleanser

Flight Skincare Sheer Luxury Milk Cleanser | I adore Kim from Flight Skincare and her products reflect her passion for natural, non-toxic living. This cleanser is deliciously creamy and leaves my skin super smooth.

La Mav Sweet Orange Foaming Cleanser | This cleanser is superb! Foamy, sweet-smelling and perfect for my combination skin. As with all La Mav products, it’s certified organic and cruelty free.

Face Moisturiser

If I’m not slathering coconut oil on (straight out the jar), I’m using…

La Mav Rumex Advanced Lightening Day Creme | This is my day time moisturiser. I’m all about smoothing and fading my old acne scars right now (check out my recent post on Omnilux Light Therapy) and this creme has definitely helped. I slathered it on my skin during a flight last week and bypassed the usual post-flight skin dehydration. Love it.

Sukin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil | I use this daily as my night time moisturiser; a miracle working healing oil, this stuff delivers supple, radiant, delicious skin. I am a die hard rose hip oil fan and this brand is a cruelty free fave.

Body Moisturiser

Again, if I’m not slathering coconut oil on (read: coconut oil obsessed), I’m using…

B Kind Multi-Purpose Nourishing Oil | This stuff is awesome! You can use it as a body moisturiser but also as a hair mask, bath oil, massage oil, make-up remover… Using an ancient recipe, this nourishing oil boasts only olive oil, avocado oil, rose hip oil, mandarin oil and vanilla essential oil in the ingredient list. Smells magic!

Face Mask

Kora Organics Hydrating Mask | Seriously, this stuff is the bomb. The only face mask I use and I swear, when I see my mini forehead line trying to sneak its way back onto my face, this mask smooths it out in one go. I use it twice a week - it’s a decadent and essential addition to my self care routine.

Eye Cream

Flight Skincare Timeless Antioxidant Lifting Eye Cream | If I’m honest, I don’t use an eye cream every day. Or really at all. But I have used this cream before and if I was going to become a Daily User Of Eye Creams, this would most definitely be the one I would use. It’s lush.

Lip & Body Balm

B Kind Multi-Purpose Healing Balm | Again, multi-purpose for the win! Less is more, yes? This yummy organic balm is perfect for dry lips, cracked heels and skin irritations. My boyfriend loves it (don’t tell him I told you that) and I don’t go anywhere without it.

Deodorant

Mutki Certified Organic Roll On Deodorant | OK, if you only make the switch to one organic skin care product, can it PLEASE be this? Ladies, our commercial deodorants are laden with toxic ingredients that we are rubbing into our underarms, right into our lymph system and breasts. Problem is, lots of organic deodorants simply don’t work to mask body odour - THIS ONE DOES!!!

Fake Tan

Kiri Organics Gradual Tan | Naturally, my skin is far from pale, but occasionally a slick of tan is a must. I’ve recently fallen for this gradual tan (although, I’d use the term “gradual” loosely - it’s quite dark on first application) as it’s nourishing, lasts for a good week and smells divine.

Shampoo & Conditioner

This area is tricky ground. Finding a 100% non-toxic shampoo and conditioner that actually works is tough, but my best pick is definitely…

Grown Alchemist Shampoo & Conditioner | With damask rose, black pepper and sage, this stuff smells delicious and leaves my hair bouncy, shiny and soft - which is what you want. Free from parabens, silicones, artificial fragrances, petrochemicals and a heap of other nasties, Grown use certified organic ingredients and are cruelty free. I am also madly in love with the chic and sustainable packaging!

I've also heard great things about Mutki's shampoo and conditioner and if you've ever considered going sans shampoo (like, for life) my friend Em has written a hilarious post all about her experience ditching it all together over here.

Extra bits and pieces...

I use raw sugar to exfoliate my body and tea tree oil on spots. Inexpensive, natural and effective!

So there you have it - my fave non-toxic and natural skin care products. You can find my tips for makeup and cosmetics here.
